Security Alert: Better Business Bureau Scam

In an attempt to appeal to Business’ owners concerns about their operations, hackers have been sending out Emails under, with a subject line that consists of “Case #” with random numbers following it. This Email contains an attachment containing a particularly nasty trojan horse, created to allow remote control of your system from another location. The Email is one of the better constructed ones, with official-looking verbiage discussing a dispute with a customer. Keep in mind that BBB would not send attachments or be as vague as the letter is. Additionally, the Better Business Bureau does not act as a middle-man in complain negotiations; rather, they only keep track of any complaints sent to them, and will adjust them only after you contact the bureau with a resolution.

This holiday season, don’t get the gift of malware by falling for a phishing scam.
